Project study; client commissioned architectural photography of the Rove Downtown hotel by Emaar Properties. I invite you to learn how I approach my professional architectural shoots and to check out the final result.
ROVE DOWNTOWN HOTEL (BY EMAAR PROPERITES)
THE APPROACH AND EXECUTION
Rove Hotels are charaterized by my favorite, “zero hassle” mantra. They are easy to access or navigate, and all have a pratical layout, for guests who appreciate high quality, yet affordable travel & stay. Every detail of a Rove hotel has a purpose and functional intent. Colour choices are vibrant and masterfully mixed. Furniture is chic and inspired by pop culture influences. Interior design is bright, stylish, playful and inviting. Rove brand has got it right.
Having photographed more than a half dozen Rove Hotels, I knew what to expect prior to my scouting trip. There’s a formula to this hotel brand which flows like an invisible thread across their entire portolio, and it’s a good thing.
My task was to photograph the exteriors at dawn, daytime, dusk and night. As far as interiors were concerned, the client only cared about public areas such as the lobby, main entrance, daytime and outdoor restaurants and the swimming pool deck. I scouted the area once and carefully planned the shoot over 2 days, in order to capture the hotel at optimal times of the day from the planned vantage points. The photographer can’t disturb the guests, that’s why I work fast, quietly and efficiently. Like a ghost with a camera.
We don’t often get nice clouds in Dubai, except on certain days during the coldest months of the year. This was one of those beautiful days!
